About Steve

I was once in a similar situation as you might find yourself in. In my case, I was a mature student taking a Masters in Education program, after years of being a high school teacher. University had changed. I had changed. I struggled with the intense pace and volume of work and felt somewhat lost.

Rather than give up, I got help.

Now, I use my education – and my experience – to help others.

  • I use the same skills that I coach others to use. This includes creating acronyms to help memory recall, keeping a colour coded schedule and maintaining a list of my accomplishments.
  • I don’t lock students into study skills that “are supposed to work”. Instead, I tailor the skills that work best for individuals.
  • I speak from experience when I say that learning skills are lifelong, not just for school

I believe:

  • Students benefit from learning “how” as well as from learning “what”
  • The key to building confidence is to start small
  • The key to long term success is to build confidence
  • The past doesn’t dictate the future; anyone can overcome previous experiences, as long as they have new tools and new ways of thinking.
