August Has Arrived — But Don’t Rush Summer

With the calendar turning to August, it’s easy to start thinking about what’s coming next.

For many students and families, that means the upcoming school year. New classes, new routines, and new opportunities are only a few weeks away.

But not quite yet.

If you’re enjoying the long weekend or making the most of summer, give yourself permission to stay present. There will be plenty of time later this month to think about course schedules, supplies, calendars, and preparing for September.

Right now, the goal isn’t to rush ahead.

Instead, use August as a transition month. Continue enjoying summer while recognizing that a new academic year is gradually coming into view. The best transitions aren’t rushed—they happen intentionally.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll begin sharing practical learning strategy tips to help students and parents prepare for September. We’ll talk about organization, time management, embracing change, and building strong habits from the very beginning of the semester.

For today, though, keep it simple.

Enjoy the long weekend. Spend time with family and friends. Recharge a little more.

September will be here soon enough.
