PIT STOP BEFORE THE LAST LAP

You’ve got through November, and it’s now just a matter of keeping focus over the next couple of weeks for exams.

Once you’re through the last class this week, take a breath. Recall the last-class reward we talked about last week, and schedule something in terms of time with family, friends, or just me time. That little bit of R&R is the pit stop where you stop, service, and refuel for the final lap. You will be grounded and energized for exams.

Then make up a plan for the week or two of exams. I’ve blogged extensively about exams, but for this week, here are the basics for the week before finals:

Recharge

  • Take a breath.
  • Spend a day on R&R.

Prepare

  • Ensure accommodations are in place and your profs are notified if they need to be.
  • Ensure hardware, apps, passwords and access are all in order.
  • Stock up on time by getting chores out of the way that you don’t want eating into exam study time.
  • Stock up on quick, light meals with low prep and low cleanup.

Plan

  • Have your exams marked on your scheduler, including allowance for travel time.
  • Review and revise your goals for the term.
  • Post reinforcer reminders for endorsement as your effort pattern changes once classes are over.
  • Schedule in recharge time after each exam.
  • Schedule in self-maintenance-eat, sleep, grooming, exercise, grounding.
  • Schedule in study time before and between exams.
  • And plan a reward for after the last exam.

After the last class this week, after fuelling up at the last pit stop, you’re good to go. See you next week!

In the meantime, I’m booking into January. If you’d like to get a running start on the winter term and stay on track from the get-go. Connect with me in the form below or directly through email: [email protected]
