THIS IS SUCCESS!

“I’ve never been the best test taker or had clear strategies for studying. I was on a 4th attempt of a trade Red Seal exam before I hired Steve. He gave me the tools I needed to write the exam with precision, efficiency, and confidence. I would highly recommend Steve to anyone who could use help with studying or test taking.”

I appreciate Al’s endorsement*–but much credit goes to him! For those of you who don’t know what the Red Seal is, it’s the highest level of certification for the trades. It’s beyond journeyman; it’s the trades equivalent of a four-year bachelor’s degree. And it’s national. Qualifying is a stamp of expertise and competence recognized across all provinces without recertifying in each jurisdiction.

Al knew his stuff. In his mid-thirties, he was experienced, skilled and competent. But how he prepared for and wrote the make-or-break exams did not show that. With each unsuccessful attempt, his confidence that he would ever nail that exam dropped. We started the work.

There were specific skills not related to the practice of his trade that Al had simply never been taught. Our work had three components: First, what went wrong? What tools were needed to fix what went wrong? Second, learn the skills. Third, practice applying those skills. Identifying, teaching and coaching–that was my job. Learning, practicing, and doing the work–that was Al’s job.

So we both did that work.

And that yielded success. (Thank you for letting me share this, Al.)
